Alpharetta Accelerator Launches Aug. 9; "Small Business Incubator on Steroids"

Alpharetta, GA (PRWEB) August 03, 2011

With Georgia leading the nation in new business startups, a new kind of small business incubator will launch with ribbon-cutting ceremonies on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 to serve the need for more and better small-business growth and job creation throughout the state.

The Alpharetta Accelerator has been designed by its principals to offer multiple new services to its clients, unlike other small business incubators. The services include a 75-member Board of Advisors; access to the soon-to-be-established $ 10 million Alpharetta Seed Capital Fund; and preferred access to the Atlanta Gathering of Angels, a group of accredited investors that meets twice monthly. The Gathering of Angels group has found capital for more than 375 young companies since it was founded in 1996 by Tarby Bryant, one of the managing partners of the Accelerator.

The Accelerator will be located at 221 Roswell Street in downtown Alpharetta, Georgia, in what the principals call full service, state-of-the-art and best of breed facilities complete with unlimited free parking and neighborhood amenities. It will comprise the entire first floor of the building which is the headquarters of Staffing Technologies Worldwide, a privately-held $ 60 million international technological staffing company owned by Jim McNabb, another managing partner of the Alpharetta Accelerator.

Seasoned investment banker Christine Kieffer will join Bryant and McNabb as a partner in the Alpharetta Seed Capital Fund. Kieffer, also a member of the Alpharetta Accelerator Board of Advisors, currently serves as managing partner of Concept III International, a private equity business catalyst focused on the areas of high technology, commercial real estate, sports marketing and fine arts.

Bryant, McNabb and Kieffer describe their new venture as a small business incubator on steroids.

We are re-inventing the small business incubator. We are a true accelerator, a cross between a small business incubator, a small, personal Silicon Valley venture capital firm, and a firm like Accenture, Capgemini or Bain & Company. We bring seasoned senior talent with industry specific expertise, convenient working space, seed- and early-stage capital to our clients at a better value than they could get elsewhere, said Bryant, a finance executive with 40 years of deal-making, profit and loss and cash flow experience including as CEO of the Atlanta Economic Development Corporation (AEDC).

What makes us truly unique is the our Board of Advisors, access to capital through our unique connections to the Atlanta Gathering of Angels and the coming Alpharetta Seed Capital Fund. We can help up to 15 companies per year launch successful, young, job-creating and profitable businesses, primarily in the Greater Atlanta area, according to McNabb, whose Staffing Technologies serves clients such as AT&T, Hewlett-Packard, The Home Depot, and Accenture through offices in Atlanta, Dallas, Seattle and Singapore.

We plan to be actively involved with each of our Accelerator clients and their respective management teams. Each client will be assigned five members of the Board, depending on their specific industry expertise and client needs. We hope to be the Cirque de Soleil of small business incubators by reinventing the category and unlocking new, uncontested market space as did Southwest Airlines, NetJets, Yellowtail Wines, Lexus, Bloomberg, Starbucks and The Home Depot, said Bryant.

"I am excited about serving as a partner in the Alpharetta Seed Capital Fund and on the Accelerator's Board of Advisors. This is a great opportunity to be of assistance and guidance to Alpharetta Accelerator clients when they need it most and to give them the benefit of my industry expertise, contacts in the Silicon Valley and my sources of capital worldwide, said Kieffer.

Persons interested in serving on the Accelerators Board of Advisors or participating as clients of the Accelerator should call 678-338-2040 or go to http://www.AlpharettaAccelerator.com for more information.

Introduced initially as a trial in Milton Keynes Kingston store, the popularity of Apple Macs and iPods being sold from a dedicated Apple zone inside a Tesco store has meant that the retailer has introduced further bespoke Apple zones.

The Apple zones will offer over 75 Apple products and related accessories in the lead up to Christmas - with everything from Apple Macs, iTunes cards, speakers and the full range of iPods (http://direct.tesco.com/q/N.1999792/Nr.99.aspx ) on sale.

Indie Strategy Game with iCloud, Mystery Ball, Launches in App Store

Westwood, Kan. (PRWEB) November 03, 2011

Mystery Ball will become one of the first iOS games with iCloud support to hit the App Store on Nov. 3.

The first release from Red Nova Labs Games is for sale for 99 cents through the end of launch weekend, Sunday, Nov. 6. Mystery Ball has generated a lot of buzz around Kansas City and in the gaming community. The one-man development team of David Howe was featured in the Lawrence Journal-World and the Kansas City Business Journal, and the game has been highlighted on several gaming websites.

Working 15-hour days for the last six months straight has been grueling, but I am really pleased with how the game turned out, Howe said. I've played through it from start to finish several dozen times now, and I still get a lot of enjoyment out of discovering new solutions to puzzles or finding new ways to evade Mr Pail and his crew of motley frenemies!

Mystery Ball is an adventure/strategy game that is available on the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. The player controls FRED, a neurotic ball who has been placed in a Professors strange experiment. FRED must get past enemies and collect tools and bravery badges to overcome his fears. The game features 30 unique 3D worlds, retina support and Game Center integration.

Its 30 hand-designed, meaningful worlds that will take you anywhere from 30 seconds to five minutes or longer to figure out and solve, Howe said. "I'll also be releasing several expansions to the game in the coming weeks and months that feature holiday content, as well as additional worlds, fears for FRED to conquer with new abilities and new Doodads to discover."

Howe built the game in six months, creating the art, designing and programming the game.

Its a unique opportunity for me to stretch all those muscles, Howe said. Its very common on the iOS platform to have a two-man team or a five-man team. But very rarely do you see a one-man team that would do a 3D game of this scale and scope from the ground up. To be honest, having to wear all the different hats from game design, to 2D UI art, to 3D art, to engine programming, to logic coding -- it kept me sane through the really intense schedule I built. Changing roles made every day interesting and unique."

Howe pitched Mystery Ball to the executives at Red Nova Labs in May and convinced them to invest in the game.

We encourage our employees to pursue the entrepreneurial projects they are passionate about, CEO Dan Miller said. David is extremely passionate about game development, and based on his past contributions here, we had a lot of faith in his ability to deliver. Besides, the time was right for Red Nova Labs to get back into iOS development its a space we dip our toes in from time to time.

Mystery Balls iCloud synchronization is one feature that Howe believes will get the attention of avid iOS gamers. The game can be played on one device and picked up where a user left off on another device.

The iCloud was largely designed to make tracking your music library on iTunes easier from your iPad to your iPhone to your Mac or PC, but it has also opened up a world of convenience for iOS gamers. No longer do you have to worry about finding a way to copy your game saves to your other device. With Mystery Ball's iCloud support, you can grab your iPhone on the run and pick up exactly where you left off on your iPad. Steve Jobs said it best, 'It just works.'

After launch weekend, Mystery Ball will return to its regular price of $ 2.99. To buy the game, visit Mystery Balls App Store page.

About David Howe

David Howe has been building games since age 10, attended DigiPen and worked at Handheld Games as a designer and coder. He is the Product Architect for the Game divsion at Red Nova Labs. Howe is the creator of Curator Defense and Mystery Ball, the first release from Red Nova Labs Games Division. Red Nova Labs is a web technology and marketing think-tank located in Westwood, Kan.

Health, Wellness and Beauty Expert Advice Website Launches at http://www.beforliving.com

Denver, CO (PRWEB) November 09, 2011

Kismet Group, LLC a digital media publisher, announced today the launch of be the premier online expert information exchange resource for todays savvy female consumer. The founders have created a content approach that addresses a unique and underserved part of the womens health information market by providing both Western medical and Eastern philosophical approaches to common health, wellness and beauty issues. The rising cost of healthcare coupled with an increasing interest by consumers for a more direct management over their individual health and wellness concerns is driving empowerment and a proactive approach towards health issue management.

Kismet Group Co-Founder and Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Gregory A. Buford, FACS, suggests that beforliving.com" was born out of a clear patient interest and the need to understand and fuse Western and Eastern approaches to health and wellnesssomething I see in my own plastic surgery practice on a daily basis. By delivering information from trusted expert sources on a wide range of approaches strategically centered on a specific target issue, consumers can better understand how to take charge of and manage their own health and wellness. Understanding that there is no one right way to do this, the mission of be is to present balanced views on multiple approaches for managing health, wellness and beauty.

Beforliving.com approaches information related to health, wellness, and beauty by looking at each topic from mental, physical and spiritual perspectives. As medical science continues to change, there is a growing understanding of the direct connection between the mind and body and the need for convergence for attainment of optimal wellness. This convergence of nutrition, exercise and stress management is just beginning to be understood in terms of its association with major health, wellness and beauty issues women face on a daily basis.

Dr. Buford also comments that the focus at be is to not simply to provide useful information, but also to deliver it in a way that consumers can easily understand. By developing an approachable interface between the Expert and the Consumer, information is passed on in a manner that is easier to comprehend and to incorporate into activities of daily living. A simple review of current online resources suggests that far too many websites tell you how or why something may be good for your health, often in medical terms, but they simply dont provide enough guidance for consumers on how to actually use this advice and incorporate it into their everyday lifestyle or routine. Given how complex health and wellness issues can be, the focus of be is to address this problem by providing information from physicians, nutritionists, personal trainers, yoga instructors, and other health and wellness practitioners in an integrated and personable manner.

beforliving.com is also unique in content will be provided in multiple formats including video, audio, and text including distribution by Apple iTunes. This multi-format content distribution strategy is critical given the growing number of methods consumers use to access information. To better manage your wellness, it is critical to understand exactly what it takes to achieve optimal health. And the goal at be is to deliver just that!
